BEST OF CALGARY 2021
GOOD NEWS STORIES
Our final week of positive news stories has arrived - and what an inspiring journey it has been. Ten weeks of nominations pouring in daily to report kind individuals, caring neighbours and generous businesses spotted anywhere from across the road to the opposite edge of the city. The combination of kind acts along with the willingness to share good deeds made our job easy, Calgary, so thank you for stepping up and supporting your neighbours during this time.
Local businesses left, right and centre are still going above and beyond for their communities, even though we are seeing regulations change and things slowly return to the way they once were. We want to give a shout out to these five local companies who are serving Calgarians during this time, whether you need a laugh, want to shop or runs some errands.
This week, we showcase five outstanding individuals who showed compassion during this time of need and supported their community in the best ways they knew how. Whether they helped their neighbours stay active, provided education, comforted or lent a helping hand or ear, Calgarians have truly stepped up to help one another, no matter where their neighbours were at.
As restrictions are lifted and we slowly work towards getting back to 'normal' here in Calgary, we still have a long way to go before things return to the way it once was. From musicians and frontline workers to small business owners and outstanding individuals, we are blown away by the kind, generous souls who have volunteered their time and resources to help those in need over the past few weeks.
Shine up the family car AND your formal shoes Calgary, because high school graduation ceremonies are happening after all. An idea dreamt up by Best of Calgary's very own, Gary Davies, and the team at e=mc2 events, has come to fruition when Alberta Health Services (AHS) approved the project earlier this month.
Last week we focused on small local businesses who were stepping up to help serve their community; this week, we're highlighting certain individuals who have been going above and beyond during this time of need. From local heroes and frontline workers to dedicated employees and caring citizens, Calgary has no shortage of people who are willing to step up and help their fellow neighbours.
This week is all about our local businesses and facilities who have stepped up to serve their community. Times are tough in Calgary right now, there’s no doubt about that, but there are certain individuals, groups, owners and volunteers who are making a difference in the lives of those who need it. We wanted to personally give a shout out to these six small businesses and facilities, whether they’re showing the love or in need of our support.
Another Monday, another opportunity to celebrate all the good that’s happening right here in Calgary. We hope that you had a fantastic weekend in the sun, and that you’re ready to get back to it, however that looks for you. We know you’re all getting anxious to get back to a normal routine, so we’re here to support you in any way we can, sharing the absolute best of our city week after week.
Finally some warm weather here in Calgary - we hope you’re able to get out and enjoy the sunshine this week! As we settle in to social distancing, solo grocery shopping and going for two-metres-apart walks, it begins to feel like a new routine. Since we don’t know how long this lifestyle change is going to last, why not lean into it and see what we can be grateful for?
