Believe it or not, David Spence has been on-the-air for over 37 years, so he unsurprisingly wins this award yet again. He has been with CTV since 1981 and is their current sky watch weather meteorologist. Originally born in Winnipeg, David has been a fixture in the lives of so many Calgarians over the years. When you need reliable Calgary weather predictions delivered in an enthusiastic, straightforward manner, Spence is your guy.

David’s first opportunity in radio news was with CJAY 92, ironically originally occupying the current basement where CTV Calgary now resides. Since transitioning to television, he has earned praise from dozens of anchors, reporters and on-air personalities with whom he has shared the air as well as Mayor Nenshi. As a result of a job well done, David has won the Calgary Herald Reader’s Choice Award multiple times. Outside of broadcasting, Spence also dedicates time for ‘Weather in the Classroom’ - a program where he visits different schools throughout the city and speaks with thousands of students every year. Always a favourite to watch, you can catch David Spence any day of the week sharing the weather on CTV Calgary.
