Glenbow Museum

Date night, family outing, or solo adventure, the Glenbow Museum is the perfect spot to explore any day of the week. Experience and educate yourself on different time periods as you walk through countless floors to learn about local history and global art pieces as others have done since 1966. As an organization that believes art is for everyone, the Glenbow Museum activates art, objects and ideas so that everyone who visits leaves with something to share.

The Glenbow Museum closed to the public on March 13th due to COVID-19. The financial impact of the pandemic has forced major changes in their staffing and fundamentally altered how they will operate in the future. This organization is dependent on both donated and earned revenue to survive, so it is now their responsibility to radically reimagine how the museum will serve the community as a resource in both the digital and in-person realms. Art and culture can provide inspiration, solace and, most importantly, a sense of connection to the people and world around us, so the Glenbow Museum's goal is to contribute to the well being of our community, build a sustainable future and participate in Calgary's economic recovery.

There are two great ways you can support the Glenbow Museum right now. If you have the means, a donation could help sustain the museum during this difficult time. Every donation makes a difference, and investing in a museum membership is a great way to stay connected with everything they have going on. If you would rather support the museum in a non-financial way, write a letter about your life right now. They are collecting personal stories to add to the museum collection. Letters they receive as part of the 'Dear Glenbow letter writing project' will be a way for our community (currently and in the future) to understand and remember this unique time that we are living through.
